We were asked to design a Hawaiian shirt for a brewery client based in Anaheim, California, who wanted their tiki-inspired identity brought to life in wearable form. The brief called for a tiki themed pattern woven together with a series of tropical drinks, so we built a bold patchwork of carved tiki masks, hibiscus blooms, pineapples, sea turtles and hand-drawn beer mugs across a rich palette of maroon, rust and sandy gold. The Asylum Brewing crest was placed front and center on the chest, giving the design an authentic brewery badge feel amid the tribal geometric tiles. Because this client had a discerning eye and wanted something that stood apart from generic tiki prints on the market, every panel was carefully arranged so the artwork reads like a genuine island-carved storyboard rather than a stock pattern. The result is a shirt that feels equally at home behind the bar or out on a sunny patio, pouring pints in true tiki spirit.
