A retired botanical illustrator came to us wanting a shirt that felt like the pressed plant plates in her grandfather's old field journals, something she could wear to her nursery's summer open house. She asked us to skip the bright tourist palette entirely and stay in deep olive and forest greens, with hibiscus blooms in rust, terracotta and faded parchment cream rather than hot pink. We layered split-leaf monstera, arching palm fronds and delicate gilded ferns across the whole shirt, then tucked in small hand-drawn spiral medallions and sunburst emblems in antique gold as a quiet signature motif. Finished with a relaxed camp collar and warm tortoiseshell buttons, it reads more herbarium than holiday — exactly the weathered, sun-faded elegance she described.
