A milestone birthday was on the horizon, and we were asked to build a Hawaiian shirt that captured everything the guest of honour loves in one loud, joyful print. The brief listed three non-negotiables: the golf course, a very good glass of wine, and a border collie — so we scattered putting greens with red pin flags, teed-up balls, clubs, champagne bottles and glasses of red and white across a navy, burgundy and buttery-cream backdrop. Palm trees, monstera leaves, confetti flecks and tiny 'BIRTHDAY' bunting fill the gaps, while the black-and-white collie sits patiently among them, bone included. Then came the fun part: cut-out photo faces, sunglasses, bucket hat and all, dropped across the whole shirt so the birthday star appears again and again.
